The Start of a new painting

So I've never actually looked at the aspect of a great painting, but from my last one I now understand that you should work from the back of the depth perception to the front. I have no idea why I splattered paint on that canvas but I hope it makes a good background. This one will be for my parents. the progress will be posted soon.
